Cavaliers post two wins over the weekend

OVERLAND PARK, KS -- The Johnson County Community College men's soccer team rebounded from a disappointing 3-2 loss to nationally ranked Jefferson College last Thursday, by posting a pair of 3-1 victories over the weekend. JCCC currently stands 4-3-1 on the season.

JCCC opened its weekend action with a 3-1 victory over Southwestern Illinois in Granite City, Ill. Oumar Seck opened the scoring in the 19th minute on an assist from Michael Shadfar. Roberto de Moraes scored what would prove to be the winning goal in the 38th minute of the first half. Dustin Schiller provided the assist.

Cortland Gibson scored an unassisted goal just prior to the 71st minute, making it 3-0 Cavaliers. Alex Agne of Southwestern prevented a shutout with his goal at the 85 minute mark.

JCCC followed with another 3-1 win on Sunday afternoon against McKendree University JV. The Cavaliers again scored the first three goals, before allowing its opponent’s lone goal. Seck again began the scoring, finding the back of the net on an assist from Gibson in the 17th minute. Five minutes later, Felipe Guimaraes made it 2-0 JCCC. Rorberto de Moreas was credited with the assist. Shadfar netted the Cavaliers final goal just two minutes later on an assist from Schiller.
