JCCC Golf Team Fourth at Coffeyville Designated
OVERLAND PARK, KS -- The Johnson County Community College golf team, the defending conference champion, earned a fourth-place finish in the first conference designated tournament of the season hosted by Coffeyville Community College. The tournament was played at the par-72 Coffeyville Country Club in Coffeyville, Kan.
The Cavaliers fired a first round total of 310, followed by a 314 for a 624 total. Dodge City finished first with 587, followed by Hutchinson at 599 and Pratt at 607.
Sophomore Aaron Odom led the Cavaliers, placing in a tie for ninth with a 152 total. Odom opened with a 78, then came back with a 74 to earn a top-10 finish.
Freshman Matt Salome of Wichita Southeast just missed a top-10 finish in his collegiate debut. Salome, runner-up in the Kansas Class 6A State Tournament last year, fired rounds of 76 and 77 for a 153 total, placing him in a tie for 11th.
