JCCC men’s cross country third in region, second in conference
OVERLAND PARK, KS -- The Johnson County Community College men’s cross country team posted a third place finish at the Region VI Championship yesterday, Oct. 30, at Camp Haven Park in Arkansas City, Kan. The team also finished second in the East Jayhawk Conference standings.
The Cavaliers had two runners earn both All-Region VI and All-East Jayhawk Conference at this meet. Sophomores Alex Troncoso and Trevor Johannsen finished among the top-15 in the region and top-seven in the conference to garner the honors.
Troncoso led the way, placing ninth in the region, and fifth in the conference. He crossed the finish line in 26:27.36, the 14th-best time posted in this championship by a JCCC runner. Johannsen placed 14th and seventh respectively, finishing in 26:56:23. His time ranks 21st all-time at JCCC.
Rounding out the field for JCCC were: Matt Bilhimer (17th and 9th - 27:03.13), Jason Rose (23rd and 10th - 27:19.14), Daniel Everhart (24th and 11th - 27:24.18), Grant Catloth (25th and 12th - 27:24.90) and Keith Cowart (27th and 14th - 27:37.81).
