JCCC men 10th at national cross country meet
OVERLAND PARK, KS -- The Johnson County Community College men’s cross recently posted a 10th-place finish at the 2006 NJCAA Cross Country Championships in El Paso, Texas. It is JCCC’s 15th top-10 finish in team history. It is its highest finish at the Division I level since placing 10th in 1997.
Leading the way was freshman Daniel Everhart of Kansas City, Kan. He raced to a 43rd-place finish with a time of 25:39. Close behind were freshmen Keith Cowart of Baldwin, Kan., Trevor Johannsen of Clinton, Mo., and Grant Catloth of Baldwin, Kan. Cowart placed 51st in a time of 25:54. Johannsen was 53rd with a time of 25:56, and Catloth placed 56th with a time of 26:00.
Rounding out the JCCC runners were freshman Alex Troncoso of Kansas City, Mo., (71st-26:14) and Matt Bilhimer of Overbrook, Kan. (75th-26:18). JCCC’s top runner all season, freshman James Tong of Kansas City, Mo., became ill during the race and had to pull out.
