JCCC harriers post top 10 finishes at Disney Cross Country Classic

OVERLAND PARK, KS --  The Johnson County Community College women’s and men’s cross country teams turned in impressive performances at the 2006 Disney Cross Country Classic at the Wide World of Sports Complex in Buena Vista, Fla., last weekend.  The women finished 10th out of 36 teams, while the men placed third out of 30 teams.

Leading the charge for the women was freshman Christa Heideman and sophomore Jackie Jamison.  Heideman finished 31st overall in a field of 287 runners.  She finished with a time of 19:16.21,  Jamison finished 44th overall with a time of 19:46.77.

Other JCCC competitors included:  Danielle Houltberg (79th-20:18.92), Kay Thomason (81st-20:22.43), Sarah Dupree (120th-21:14.55), Felicia Fleming (121st-21:14.59), Samantha Parr (193-22:51.63), Jessie Davis (205th-23:07.72) and Jenna Wagoner (214th-23:37.25).

The men were led by freshman sensation James Tong, who posted a fifth-place finish in a field of 239 runners.  Tong finished the 8k course in 25:30.01.  

Other key efforts for JCCC included freshman Trevor Johannsen and freshman Daniel Everhart.  Johannsen placed 34th with a time of 26:35.53, and Everhart was four spot back at 38th, with a time of 26:44.59.

Other JCCC runners were:  Alex Troncoso (47th-26:55.21), Grant Catloth (27:09.78), Keith Cowart (66th-27:15.78), Matt Bilhimer (90th-27:46.65), David Franz (115th-28:33.91), Kyle Morgison (124th-28:55.22), Dan Quillin (129th-29:03.42) and Jason Sorn (139th-29:22.62).
