JCCC to host Cavalier Cup

  Cavalier Cup   OVERLAND PARK, KS --  Johnson County Community College will be the host site for the annual Cavalier Cup cross country meet  Friday evening, Sept. 8.  Joining JCCC in the field this year teams from Cloud County Community College, Hutchinson Community College, Neosho County Community College, Longview Community College and Highland Community College.  The women’s race is schedule to start at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 6 p.m.

    The JCCC men’s and women’s teams enter the meet on the heels of solid efforts at the Maple Leaf Invitational last weekend in Baldwin City, Kan.   Both teams finished third in the team standings,  and each team had a runner finish in the top five.   On the women’s side, freshman Christa Heideman of Wamego, Kan., led the squad with a third-place showing, crossing the finish line in 12:06.84.  Freshman James Tong of Kansas City, Mo., paced the men harriers, finishing fifth overall in a time of 15:57.17.
