OVERLAND PARK, KS -- The No. 10 ranked Johnson County Community College women’s basketball team won its third straight conference game Saturday afternoon, downing Neosho County 69-49.  The victory improved the team’s mark to 14-6 overall, and to 4-4 in the East Jayhawk Conference.

Freshman Meghan Waggoner led the squad with a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds.  Waggoner hit 6-of-8 shots, and was 3-of-4 from the line.  Waggoner is the team’s second leading scorer and rebounds this season, averaging 11.0 points and 6.84 rebounds per game.

Also scoring in double figures were sophomore All-American Katy Davenport and sophomore point guard Jacky Smith. Davenport finished with a game-high 16 points.  She also had five rebounds, three assists and two blocks.  Smith added 13 points, hitting 3-of-7 from 3-point range.  She also had six assists, three steals and no turnovers.  Smith continues to move closer to the career assist record at JCCC.  She now has 323, third all-time.  She needs just 55 more to break the record.  She averages seven assists per game this season which ranks her 11th in the NJCAA.
