Lady Cavaliers down Hesston College
OVERLAND PARK, KS -- Johnson County improved to 4-2 on the season Tuesday night, and in the process swept the season series against Hesston College. JCCC took control of the game early, then cruised to an 81-50 victory. JCCC outscored Hesston 41-18 in the first half. Offensively, JCCC shot an impressive 50 percent from the floor, and 87 percent from the line, but it was the Cavaliers defensive pressure that set the tone for the night. JCCC forced 27 Hesston turnovers, and held the Larks to just 29 percent shooting from the field.
Four players scored in double figures for Johnson County. Freshman forward Heather Rourk led the way with 20 points. She hit 6-of-10 shots, and was 8-of-11 from the line. She also had seven rebounds. Sophomore All-American Katy Davenport continues to move up JCCC’s career scoring chart, pouring in 16 points. She also had 12 rebounds. Davenport has scored 123 points through six games this season, which gives her 762 points in her career. That total ranks 16th all-time.
Freshman Meghan Waggoner followed with 14 points and six rebounds, and sophomore point guard Jacky Smith nearly posted a double-double, finishing with 10 points and nine assists.
