OVERLAND PARK, KS -- The Johnson County Community College women’s basketball team, ranked ninth in the preseason poll, improved to 2-1 on this young season with an 81-56 home victory over Hesston College.  JCCC used a strong first half to jump out to a 27-point lead at the break.  The Cavaliers then cruised to the win. The victory improved JCCC’s mark over Hesston all-time to 23-0.  The win also improved head coach Debbie Carrier to 82-18 over NJCAA D-II programs.

Offensively for the Cavaliers four players finished in double figures, led by sophomore Meghan Waggoner.  She poured in 16 points, fueled by an 8-for-8 effort at the free throw line. She also had seven rebounds and four assists.  Brittney Slifer followed with 14 points and hit four 3-pointers.  Bethany Schwab added 11 points and hit three long-range bombs, and freshman Katie Buenger finished with 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting.
