Defense powers JCCC to 16-point win over Hesston

OVERLAND PARK, KS -- The Cavaliers improved to 4-1 on the season with a 73-57 victory over Hesston College Tuesday night at the JCCC Gymnasium.  Leading by only three at the break, the Cavaliers increased its defensive intensity in the second half and won going away.   JCCC held the Larks to just 27 second half points, and to 31 percent shooting from the field.

Three players scored in double figures for Johnson County, led by sophomore center Corey May’s 17-point, 11-rebound effort.  Freshman Anthony Spencer also registered a double-double, finishing with 15 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Sophomore Aaron Linn added 13 points, along with five assists and four steals.

The Cavaliers look to avenge its only loss of the season Monday night when they travel to No. 3 ranked Brown Mackie College in Salina, Kan.  JCCC lost to the Lions by only six points.  JCCC missed 19 free throws and committed 32 turnovers in the game.
