OVERLAND PARK, KS -- The JCCC men's basketball team won its third straight NJCAA Division II Basketball Championship Saturday afternoon, defeating Hesston College, 87-53. The victory improves JCCC to 21-11 overall.

The Cavaliers took control early, building a 25-point lead at the break, then added their advantage in the second half. Reserve guard Melvin Cole came in off the bench to pour in a career-high 21 points. Also in double figures were freshman Nafis Ricks with 19 and sophomore Quintin Totta with 16.

JCCC will host the NJCAA District 10 Championship on Tuesday, Mar. 11 at 7 p.m., against the Missouri region champion.
