Johnson County swept by Cowley Community College

OVERLAND PARK, KS — The Cavaliers were recently swept by conference leader Cowley Community College.  In game one,  CJ Herrforth got his first start of the season against a good hitting Cowley club.  He pitched five strong innings giving up three runs.  JCCC was down 3-2 in the seventh before Cowley pulled away with three unearned runs, giving them a 6-2 lead.  Jeremy Francis did all he could do by getting three hits in the game but JCCC could not muster enough offense to catch up.

In game two, the Cavaliers battled hard but came up on the short end of another one-run loss.  Matt Thomason had a quality start but the bats couldn't get rolling until the seventh.  Down 2-4 in the seventh, Mitchell Mathis had a two RBI hit with two outs that sent the game into extra innings.  JCCC could not hold Cowley's offense down, allowing one run in the eighth.
