Cavaliers Land Three More Recruits

Kent Shelley is proud to announce the signing of three more talented student-athletes for next season. Ethan Weber from Shawnee Mission West, Grant DeGarmo from Blue Valley Northwest, and Brett Pener from Blue Valley Northwest.

Weber is a 6-4, 185 lb right-handed pitcher who attends Shawnee Mission West High School. He shows tremendous upside and his best days are ahead of him.

“Ethan participated in the Johnson County Community College Indoor League so we got to see him over the winter,” said Shelley. “Every Sunday he pitched he just kept on getting better. It will be exciting to see him keep getting better and we look for him to push for some series innings this fall.”

DeGarmo is a 6-1, 200 lb right-handed pitcher who plays for coach Corby Lange at Blue Valley Northwest High School. He is a hard nosed kid who loves to compete. He was a high school wrestler and he brings that same mentality to the mound.

“We have been watching Grant ever since he was little,” Shelley said. “He has the toughness to pitch at this level and he is the kind of guy you want to have the ball in big situations.”

Pener is a 5-10 165 lb left-handed pitcher who also plays for coach Corby Lange at Blue Valley Northwest High School. He is currently 4-0 on the mound for the Huskies, and is the go-to guy out of the pen. Brett throws three plus pitches for strikes and has good velocity. He is the kind of kid who can give Jayhawk hitters a headache.

“Brett is one of the most polished pitchers in the state of Kansas,” said Shelley. “We think he can come in right away and dominate this conference. He had a chance to go to several division I schools and some very high level division II schools but he chose to be a Cavalier. After Two years of gaining velocity there is no telling where Brett might end up.
