Section 419: Employee Benefits
An employee who adopts a child or has a child placed in his/her home for
foster care shall be eligible for a leave of absence for up to twelve (12)
weeks in accordance with the Family and Medical Leave Act benefit as
provided in Policy 419.12s. An employee taking such leave shall be allowed
to charge up to six (6) weeks of such leave time to the employee's sick
leave time if the employee provides acceptable documentation that he/she
will be the primary care giver for the child while the other parent, if
any, continues to be actively at work. The balance of the leave time
requested may be charged to an employee's accrued vacation time and/or
personal leave or shall be granted without pay as requested by the
employee.
The amount of any paid leave available under Policy 419.12s may be reduced
by the amount of paid leave taken under this policy.
