Section 419: Employee Benefits
A leave of absence for up to twelve (12) weeks shall be granted for
childbirth purposes in accordance with the Family and Medical Leave Act
benefit as provided in Policy 419.12s. During the time which an employee
is certified as disabled by her physician, the employee may charge the
leave time to her accrued sick leave, or she may apply for short-term
disability benefits for any period of the leave certified by a physician
as qualifying the employee for short-term disability benefits. The balance
of any childbirth leave not covered by sick leave or disability benefits
may be charged to an employee's accrued vacation time and/or personal
leave, or shall be granted without pay as requested by the employee.
The amount of any paid leave available under Policy 419.12s may be reduced
by the amount of paid leave taken under this policy.
