Section 315: Degree Certificate Requirements
1. Academic Requirements
a. Certificate of Completion - A certificate of completion may be awarded
for a specified course of study not exceeding 15 credit hours providing a
student meets the following criteria:
- Complete the course or courses in the certificate program as listed in the college catalog at the time of the student's initial enrollment provided the student maintains continuous enrollment in at least one credit class each regular semester.
- Earn a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 (C) or above and a JCCC GPA of 2.0 in all college credit classes completed.
- Complete a minimum of 50 percent of the required coursework at JCCC.
- Be enrolled during the semester the certificate program is completed.
b. Career/Technical Certificate - A career or technical certificate may be
granted for programs of 16 to 59 credit hours providing a student meets the
following criteria.
- Complete the course or courses in the certificate program as listed in the college catalog at the time of the student's initial enrollment provided the student maintains continuous enrollment in at least one credit class each regular semester.
- Earn a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 (C) or above and a JCCC GPA of 2.0 in all college credit classes completed.
- Complete a minimum of 50 percent of the required coursework at JCCC.
- Be enrolled during the semester the certificate program is completed.
A notice of Intent to Complete Certificate Requirements must be filed in
the Records Office by the deadline dates outlined in the schedule of
classes. Certificates will be issued at the end of each semester or term.
2. Awards
Certificates will be issued at the end of each semester or term.
Commencement exercises will be held once a year, at the completion of the
spring semester. Students who have completed the requirements for a
certificate in prior semesters may be invited to participate in
commencement exercises.
