Johnson County Community College
Series 300: Student Personnel
Section 313: Financial Aid
1. Federal/State
The college will participate in all federal and state student aid programs
that are available to two-year public institutions. The college will
comply with all regulations which govern the various programs.
2. Institutional Programs
Based on the availability of resources, the Board of Trustees may elect to
authorize funds for student assistance programs from general or student
activity revenue.
3. Satisfactory Academic Progress
Federal regulations require that a student must be making satisfactory
academic progress toward a certificate, degree or transfer program in
order to be eligible to receive aid from any Federal Aid Programs.
Johnson County Community College will maintain a standard for evaluating a
student's academic efforts to achieve an educational goal that will comply
with all federal regulations and the intent of all relevant statutes. A
detailed listing of the standards and procedures will be included in the
college catalog and other financial aid published materials and will be
made available to all students applying for financial assistance.
Students will be given the option to appeal any decision by the college
that could cause them to lose their eligibility for financial assistance.
Appeals must be in writing and include appropriate documentation. The
written appeal and documentation will be reviewed by a Student Affairs
subcommittee to determine if the student has documented mitigating
circumstances which prevented the student from maintaining satisfactory
progress. The decision of the Student Affairs Committee is final and the
student will be informed in writing of the committee's decision.
In addition to all federal aid programs, the academic progress policy will
be applied to all students receiving any type of aid from the institution.
