Transfer Rules (NJCAA)
General rules that apply to any transfer student
1. Transfer students are those who have attended any college beyond
the first 15 calendar days of a term or who have participated in an
athletic contest and at a later date enroll and attend classes at another
college.
2. Students may not participate in the same sport during the same
academic year at two different colleges. Fall participation in the sports
of softball, baseball and tennis shall not prevent students from competing
in the same sports during the spring season or the same academic year after
having transferred from another college and satisfied all the transfer
provisions of the eligibility rules. One exception is if a student has
transferred from a school that has dropped his or her particular sport.
Documentation of the program being dropped must be provided when
submitting the eligibility.
4. Students who are serving probation shall not dress for any
contests.
5. Whenever students are required to serve probation, they must be
enrolled in 12 credit hours at the institution where they are
participating.
6. To be eligible in a sport that spans two terms, transfer students
must be enrolled in 12 or more credit hours during the term when the season
of that sport begins. The students must also be enrolled at the college
where they have chosen to participate.
Transfers to and from a Jayhawk Conference Institution
JCCC is a member of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference. Its
members include Allen County, Barton County, Butler County, Cloud County,
Coffeyville, Colby, Cowley County, Dodge City, Fort Scott, Garden City,
Highland, Hutchinson, Independence, Kansas City Kansas, Labette, Neosho
County, Pratt and Seward County community colleges.
These are the guidelines set forth by the conference regarding students
transferring to or from a member institution:
Any athlete certified by NJCAA eligibility roster who transfers from one
KJCCC college to another KJCCC college or who signs an NJCAA letter of
intent and who transfers from one KJCCC college to another KJCCC college
shall forego competition for one calendar year from the date of transfer
only in the sport for which he or she was certified and/or signed an NJCAA
letter of intent, with the exception of two-semester sports. However, if an
athlete is attending a KJCCC institution that drops the sport that he or
she is certified to participate in (the student-athlete's name has
appeared on an NJCAA eligibility list), that student-athlete may transfer
to another community college conference institution and shall be eligible
to participate in athletics, after notifying the conference commissioner.
Transfers from Another NJCAA Institution
(except Jayhawk Conference schools)
There are various rules and regulations regarding students who transfer
from another NJCAA member institution. These rules and regulations are
listed in the NJCAA handbook and casebook. If you fall under this
category, check with the athletic director concerning these rules.
Transfers from a Senior College/Non-NJCAA Institution
Same as above.
