Athletic Code of Conduct
JCCC Athletic Code of Conduct
1. Student athletes representing the college are asked to adhere to
the same policies and procedures listed in the student code of conduct as
found in the college catalog. In addition, any athlete on any team at any
time may be tested at random for use of illegal substances.
2. Athletes will follow the rules and regulations set forth by the head coach of their sport.
3. Athletes must attend scheduled practices and required meetings. If it is necessary to miss a practice or meeting, the head coach must give permission before the practice or meeting.
4. Any equipment issued to the athlete is expected to be cared for properly. If equipment is not returned, an automatic hold will be placed on the student''s academic records until items are paid for or returned.
5. Anyone found responsible for theft of individual or school property may be dismissed from the team and prosecuted.
6. All athletes must travel with their respective team to athletic events - no exceptions. Also, athletes traveling with the team to an athletic contest will not be allowed to leave with another party following the contest. An exception may be made if the head coach and athletic director give written approval, prior to leaving on the trip, for the athlete to leave with parents or family.
7. Conduct that substantially disrupts, impedes or interferes with the operation of the team is not acceptable.
8. Insubordination or infractions of any of the aforementioned statements will result in the following disciplinary steps:
Step 1: Individual will meet with the coach and resolve the situation. If not resolved satisfactorily with the coach, go to step 2.
Step 2: Individual will meet with the coach and the athletic director to discuss and determine an appropriate action. If not resolved, go to step 3.
Step 3: Individual will have a conference with the coach, the athletic director and the dean of Student Services to determine appropriate action, which may include dismissal from the team and school.
