Art History Banner

The Art History Department offers introductory courses in the history of the visual arts of Western Europe, Asia and the United States. Students will examine the aesthetic elements which mark the styles of major movements in two-dimensional, three-dimensional and architectural works. Although many of the department's courses are taught in a traditional setting, online courses and foreign study programs are also available.

Nerman Museum of Art

JCCC's Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art is Kansas City's second largest museum. The collection, which focuses on regionally, nationally, and internationally recognized artists, was recently named one of the top ten best campus art collections in the United States by Public Art Review Magazine.

Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, founded in 1933, is Kansas City's world-class encyclopedic art museum.

Kemper Museum of Art

The University of Kansas' Spencer Museum of Art contains over 25,000 works in its permanent collection.

The “JCCC Night at the Nelson” is a special event for JCCC students, staff and faculty at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Mo.
