The Writing Center is administered by the Department of  English & Journalism. Mission Statement: The JCCC Writing Center promotes the college's mission of life-long learning and service to the community by providing an environment for nurturing independent writing; valuing progress, not perfection; emphasizing process, not product.

The Writing Center is a free student and community support center created to assist writers with reviewing, refreshing, and upgrading their writing skills. Students may bring in writing assignments and get individualized feedback on their drafts. Tutors are trained to read the essays for organization and development. Students who need to work on proofreading skills may take an assessment test which will assess the writer's ability to find mechanical errors, or they can bring in a graded paper and the tutors will help them correct their errors. In addition, handouts, resource manuals and computer software are also available to help students discover the format and best organization for their writing.

For information, please contact the Director of the Writing Center, Kathryn Byrne, at the phone number or e-mail listed below under Contact Information.
