Johnson County Community College is committed as an institution to community partnerships and stewardship. Community engagement is one of the goals listed on the college’s strategic plan:

Mission: Increase civic engagement by creating a culture of engagement at JCCC.

Rationale: The various benefits of civic engagement may seem self-evident to many, but informed, involved, compassionate citizens aren’t just born; they must be created. Basically, if everyone would prefer to live in a better world, then each of us has an inherent responsibility to help make it so.

Strategy: The strategy to pursue that mission at JCCC must necessarily involve three inter-related factors: opportunities, awareness, and participation.
