Community Leadership Development
Divider

Communities need leaders. JCCC is confident that while students have enthusiasm and untapped talents which are needed by their communities, many students don’t think of themselves as leaders. Maybe they haven’t been asked to lead, trained to lead, or expected to lead. The Civic Honors Program encourages students to seek opportunities for training and practice, through which they can develop the skills and gain the confidence that will enhance their ability to contribute.

Leadership positions and activities either on campus or in the community can fulfill this requirement, provided that the office or position held requires active leadership and organizational skills (not just an honorary title, for example) and that the work of the organization and its projects benefits the broader community, rather than the organization’s members exclusively.
