Overland Park is a relatively safe place both during the day and evening compared to other U.S. cities. However, no American city is without crime. The easiest way to get to Overland Park is by flying to Kansas City International Airport (KCI). KCI is approximately 35 minutes or 64 km (40 miles) north of the college and can be reached by public transportation. You may take a shuttle to the college. Do not take a taxi as it is very expensive. WeatherJohnson County students experience all four seasons and enjoy a pleasant spring and fall. During the summer months, warm days and mild nights are normal and winters are moderately cold with some snowfall. TransportationMost every JCCC student drives his or her own car to school. A car is necessary during your stay in the U.S. if you want to travel and be independent. A car may not be necessary if you live on or near a bus route. Overland Park has public bus service to JCCC on two major routes, 95th Street Express or Antioch. Due to distances and weather, walking and bicycling are possible but not practical during the cold season.
