Scholarships | F A Q's | Military Credit

This list represents known military,veteran and dependent scholarships. Please refer to the Financial Aid Office for all scholarship inquiries and questions.

State of Kansas Military Service Scholarship
This renewable scholarship is admininstrated by the Kansas Board of Regents. Applicant must be a resident of the State of Kansas and have served in Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Noble Eagle to apply.

JCCC Veteran Scholarship
This scholarship is designed to assist veterans who are re-entering the workforce or higher education after being discharged from active duty or deployment. Funding is available to veterans who have been discharged within 6 months of the 1st day of classes of the semester they plan to enroll at JCCC. The scholarship will be applied to tuition and book costs with no cash going directly to the student. Books must be purchased at the JCCC bookstore using a book voucher which can be obtained from the VA representative.

The Fund for Veterans Education
The Fund for Veterans’ Education was established to provide scholarships to veterans from all branches of the United States Armed Forces who served in Afghanistan or Iraq since September 11, 2001 and who are now enrolled in college or vocational-technical school.

Provides links to numerous scholarship opportunities based on military service or dependent status.

Scholarships for Military Children
Children of active duty and reserve/guard service members, retired military personnel or of a deceased member who have a military dependent I.D. card can apply.

Walt & Mary McGrew Scholarship for a Veteran pursing a degree
This scholarship is administrated through the Mensa Education and Research Foundation. Awards are made on the basis of an essay. It is NOT necessary that the applicant be a member of Mensa.

Marine Corp Scholarship Foundation
Provides financial assistance in the form of scholarships for higher education to children of Marines and former Marines.

VFW Military Scholarship
Provides 25 scholarships in the amount of $3,000 each annually to VFW members who are currently serving in uniform or have been discharged within the 36 months before the December 31 deadline.

AMVETS Scholarships for Veterans and Dependents
Annually awards scholarships to veterans/active military, their children or grandchildren. A son, daughter or grandchild of a deceased veteran is also eligible.

Jewish War Veterans of the USA
Annually awards three educational grants at their Annual National Convention in August to High School seniors, who are direct descendants (children, grand-children and great grand-children) of members in good standing.

Associates of Vietnam Veterans of America (AVVA) Better Chance Scholarship
Applicants must be a Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) or AVVA member; the spouse, child, or grandchild of a VVA or AVVA member; or the spouse, child, or grandchild of a KIA or MIA Vietnam Veteran.
