Being aware of your learning styles and study habits can make the difference between your success and failure as a distance learning student. The following tools and resources can be extremely useful in deciding if Distance Learning is the best method of learning at JCCC.

Distance Learning Assessment
This 15 question assessment will ask questions about your understanding of Online Learning.  Your score will provide feedback on traits of successful Distance Learning students.

Learning Styles Assessment
This assessment tool that will help you determine your learning style: 

  • WHY you like some instructors and courses better than others
  • HOW you respond to the educational process
  • WHY some of the problems you have experienced while in school are not entirely your own fault
  • HOW to learn and study more effectively
  • HOW to use what you have learned in other situations at home, at school, and at work

Counseling and Advising Services:  
Counselors are available on a walk-in basis at the Counseling Center located in the Success Center on the second floor of the Student Center building.  Online students can also use the advise@jccc.edu to e-mail a question or for registration assistance call (913) 469-2330 (ext. 2330 from on-campus).

Mon.- Wed. 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Thurs. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Fri. 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

E-mail Advising or Instant Message (IM) Advising.
These services are intended for brief, general questions. Please allow 1 to 2 business days for email response. IM Advising is available during specified hours when the IM advisor is online.
