All Johnson County Community College employees are covered by Workers Compensation for on-the-job injuries/illness.

  • If you are injured or become ill, report to your supervisor immediately.
  • In emergency situations:

    Please contact Public Safety directly by calling extension 4111 and, after treatment, notify the Insurance and Risk Manager.

  • In non-emergency situations:

    Please contact Tom Clayton, Insurance & Risk Manager, GEB 161, ext. 2508.

Johnson County Community College’s current Workers Compensation insurance company is Hartford Insurance Company.  Claims are administered by Hartford Insurance Company, P.O. Box 400, Shawnee Mission, KS  66201, 1-800-327-3636.  If the Insurance and Risk Manager is not available, please contact the Office of Human Resources at extension 4757.

In the state of Kansas, for work-related injuries/illnesses, the employer has the right to choose the physician and/or hospital to which injured employees are referred. Johnson County Community College has determined that any injury that requires immediate medical attention and treatment for injuries occurring between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. will be treated at Overland Park Regional Medical Center emergency room. Generally, non-emergency treatment will be provided at Concentra Medical Center, 14809 W. 95th Street, Lenexa, KS, (913) 894-6664 - Map to Concentra .  There are three Concentra Medical Center locations in the Kansas City area for your convenience.  Treatment at other providers will be at the discretion of JCCC. Do not see your personal physician and receive/process treatment under your personal health insurance plan.

For injuries/illnesses which are clearly work-related and are emergencies, Public Safety will contact MED/ACT for immediate treatment and transportation to Overland Park Regional Medical Center emergency room. If your injury/illness is not work-related, you have the option of telling MED/ACT which hospital you wish to be transported to. Please report your work-related injury/illness to the Insurance and Risk Manager as soon as possible following emergency treatment.

REMEMBER:

  • Report all injuries immediately to your supervisor followed by contacting the Insurance and Risk Manager.  In emergency situations, please call Public Safety at extension 4111, and after treatment, notify the Insurance and Risk Manager.  If the Insurance and Risk Manager is not available, please contact the Office of Human Resources , extension 4757.
  • All emergency treatment and treatment for injuries occurring between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. will be provided at the OPRMC Emergency Room.
  • Non-emergency treatment will generally be provided by Concentra Medical Center and/or other providers authorized by the Insurance and Risk Manager/Human Resources/Hartford Insurance and/or Concentra.
  • DO NOT SEEK TREATMENT FROM YOUR PERSONAL PHYSICIAN. Treatment given by other health care providers may be considered unauthorized, and may not be covered under your group health insurance or Workers Compensation.
