Using Materials in the JCCC Archives

During the past few years, Johnson County Community College has begun the task of collecting and preserving the records that document its history as one of the early pioneers in the community college movement in the United States. In this early stage of its development, it is not possible to access the records personally. Nationally approved archival procedures dictate that materials that have not been processed (organized) may not be used by researchers for security purposes. Part-time Archives staff, however, will be happy to try and assist you with your research requests. Arrangements may be made to consult the materials by special appointment by contacting Sharron Uhler or Anita Gordon-Gilmore at (913) 469-8500, Ext. 4701. The Archives is open by appointment only. You may also contact John Russell, Librarian, at Ext. 3284 or Mark Daganaar, Director of the Billington Library, at Ext. 3882.

The Archives may be accessed in several ways:

  • By special appointment
  • By phoning, writing or emailing the JCCC Archives' Staff at suhler@jccc.edu or AGordonG@jccc.edu
  • By using the Online Request Form

The policies listed below may help you with basic questions you have about accessing the Archives. For assistance with your questions, research topics, or to find out about subjects reflected in the Archives materials, contact the Archives staff.
