This career interest inventory is based on John Holland’s trait theory of
career development. It is self-administered and self-scored, as well as
self-interpreted, and takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes to complete.
The scores are organized to reveal an individual occupational code of
three letters representing the personality types and environmental models
from Holland’s typology: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social,
Enterprising, and Conventional. The inventory uses occupational daydreams,
activities, competencies, occupations and self-estimates to produce a
summary code.
This inventory is used with high school and college students and adults in
career transitions, at a cost of $10. Examinees must obtain a referral
from Career Services (second floor, Student Center building). The
assessment is taken in Testing Services, Student Center, Room 334. A
follow-up counseling session is required.
