If a candidate has a disability that could keep him/her from taking the GED
Tests in the way they are usually administered, the candidate may be
entitled to receive reasonable testing accommodations.
Accommodations are available for people with physical disabilities,
learning disabilities, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder or
psychological disabilities.
Accommodations may include audiocassette edition, Braille or large-print
editions, vision-enhancing technologies, use of video equipment, use of
sign-language interpreter, use of scribe, extended time/supervised extra
breaks or use of a private room.
Verification of documented disabilities must occur before a GED candidate
can be given accommodations during testing. Contact JCCC Testing Services
at 913-469-4439 or come to the Student Center, SC 334, to obtain the forms
for requesting testing accommodations and information about completing the
forms. All forms must be completed and returned to the Chief Examiner of
Testing Services before they are submitted for review.
