Linking Learning to LifeThe mission of the Career Services Center at JCCC is to assist students and alumni to successfully explore, identify, select and prepare for meaningful education and career opportunities. Career CounselingQualified staff members in the Career Services Center are available by appointment to assist students with their career planning process. This service is FREE for JCCC credit students. These career counselors offer counseling services with career assessment interpretations, career exploration strategies, and job search assistance. Academic Majors Fair: Held every fall, the Academic Majors Fair assists students who are deciding on an academic major and offers information about more than 90 JCCC career and transfer programs in a one-stop setting. Career Links Online NewsletterCareer Links Online Newsletter will link you to career and job search information that is both timely and essential to your career success. As part of our Linking Learning to Life initiative, these articles focus on JCCC programs, pertinent career information, tips for a successful job search, deciding on a major, and much more. JCCC students, faculty, staff and community members may access the newsletter archives by clicking on the link above. Job ListingsAn effective part of the Career Services Center's Web site offering full- and part-time job listings for the greater Kansas City area through www.careerexec.com. Resume and Cover Letter CritiquesParaprofessional staff, trained in writing and critiquing resumes, are available to help students with their typed, rough-draft copy of their resume. Our staff will be happy to assist you in the Career Services Center, Student Center 252 and no appointment is necessary. For more information, call (913) 469-3870. Cost: FREE. Mock InterviewsInterview preparation done in formal, video taped practice interviews with feedback and critiquing provided. These individual sessions may be done in conjunction with career program capstone classes or for any JCCC credit students preparing for an interview. The interviews are scheduled weekly. Students wishing to video tape their mock interview should provide a flash drive (available at the JCCC bookstore). Call Carol Gard at (913) 469-8500, ext. 3635 to set up an appointment. Fee-based Online AssessmentsFee-based Pencil/Paper Career AssessmentsNo Cost Assessment--FOCUSChoices WorkshopThe Choices workshop is designed for traditional-age currently enrolled JCCC students and high school seniors. It is offered monthly to assist students with making educational decisions about their academic majors, interests, and career goals. First ImpressionsJob Listings/Employers Coming to CampusThe Career Services Center provides not only a service to our students but to employers in the community, offering both a chance to connect on campus to meet employment needs. On-campus recruiting takes place every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Commons building.
