Honors Scholarships

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

Amount: Varies, pays tuition only.
Type: Merit
Eligibility: Must be a continuing student and an active Phi Theta Kappa member who is working toward or who has achieved enhanced status. Preference will be given to members who have actively participated in chapter and regional events and activities during the semester of the award. Renewal is not automatic. Funding for one additinal semester is based on continuing participation in Phi Theta Kappa activities
Deadline: Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Scholarships are awarded for the semester subsequent to the semester in which the application is submitted.
For example, if an application is submitted in the fall and awarded tuition will be applied to spring semester.

Honors Program Scholarship

Amount: $79 per credit hour, up to 15 credit hours per semester or a maximum award of $1185 per semester. The scholarship will cover a maximum of 52 credit hours. Not available for the summer session.
Type: Merit
Eligibility: To qualify, students must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours at JCCC, be working toward the requirements to graduate from the Honors Program and the college, and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5. Preference is given to students who have previously taken coursework in the Honors Program, including the Honors contracts, Honors Forum, or an interdisciplinary course. Priority is given to renewing recipients.For consideration, students must complete an application form, submit two letters of recommendation from JCCC instructors familiar with student's work. Must write an essay describing educational and career goals (approx. 500 words). The JCCC scholarship application and the JCCC admission application are required. Honors Program Scholarships will be renewed for succeeding semesters provided the student maintains a 3.5 GPA, demonstrates progress toward completion of Honors Program requirements, and successfully completes all coursework attempted. Students who wish to drop a course paid for with scholarship funds must meet with the Honors Program Facilitator.
Deadline: Applications are due March 1 for fall semester (or Monday if March 1 falls on a weekend) and October 15 for spring semester (or Monday if October 15 falls on a weekend).

Type: Merit
Eligibility: Student must be a Phi Theta Kappa enhanced member. The JCCC admission application is required.
