Jao Ti JCCC is one of 17 colleges and universities that serve as Regional Centers for the infusion of Asian content in the American undergraduate curriculum. The Regional Centers have a formal relationship with the Asian Studies Development Program (ASDP), a joint program of the University of Hawaii and the East-West Center. The Centers work to accomplish the mission of incorporating Asian content and perspectives into the core curriculum and to serve as model mentor institutions for their geographic areas.

As a Regional Center, JCCC collects resources useful in teaching about Asia and makes these available to neighboring institutions.  It hosts, on a regular basis, topical seminars and workshops related to teaching about Asia and encourages area institutions to participate. Most recently, JCCC partnered with ASDP in September 2008 to offer a faculty development workshop on Indian Cultures and Societies. Workshop speakers included Kalyani Devaki Menon, Asst Professor of Religious Studies, DePaul University; Patrick Olivelle, Chair, Department of Asian Studies, University of Texas at Austin; and Subramanian Shankar, Professor of English, University of Hawai'i at Manoa.

Indian Hands Each year JCCC sends professors to ASDP Summer Institutes at the University of Hawaii, Field Seminars in Asia, and to NEH-sponsored Regional Workshops throughout the continental U.S. Thus JCCC has a core of faculty with expertise in areas of Asian studies that serve as in-house consultants and mentors and who work with JCCC faculty and staff to increase our knowledge of Asia and our inclusion of Asian topics in JCCC courses.

JCCC students have opportunities to study in China, Japan, Thailand, and India.
