The mission of the Academic Support Division is to provide sate-of-the-art learning and administrative support to the college and community.

Division Office

The mission of the Office of the Dean, Academic Support of Johnson County Community College is to provide leadership, representation, academic support and administrative assistance to members of the community and the faculty, staff and students of JCCC through the following programs and services:

  • Learning Delivery Systems
  • Instructional Technology Research, Development, Training and Support
  • Library Services, Learning Resources and College Archives
  • Video Production and Support
  • Evening and Weekend Administrative Support 

Departments:

  • Accelerated Programs, Becky Boyd, director

    The mission of Accelerated Programs is to provide an innovative learning environment where adult students can attain college credits, certificates or degrees at an accelerated pace while maintaining their careers and personal lives.

  • Distance Learning, Ed Lovitt, assistant dean

    The mission of Distance Learning is to extend educational opportunities to a diverse population of students who prefer or require alternative methods of instructional delivery to achieve their educational goals.

  • Educational Technology Center, Jonathan Bacon, academic director

    The mission of the Educational Technology Center is to provide consultation, problem solving, design, development, mentoring, research and support related to instructional technology for faculty members and staff that support student learning at JCCC.

  • Evening/Weekend Programs, Mel Cunningham, Joe DiCostanzo and Denny Kurogi, evening/weekend administrators

    The mission of Evening/Weekend Programs is to provide administrative leadership, effective coordination, communication, problem solving and resolution of issues for JCCC faculty, staff, students and members of the community during times when no other administrators are on duty and college offices are normally closed.

  • Library Services and College Archives, Mark Daganaar, director
    The mission of the JCCC library is to serve JCCC students, faculty staff and Johnson County residents by providing access to a variety of services and resources that support and strengthen the instructional programs of the college and the higher education needs of the community.

    The mission of the Johnson County Community College Archives is to identify, collect and preserve the official records of the college; to provide facilities for such records; to provide information services to the College community, citizens of Johnson County and serious researchers; to stimulate and nourish creative teaching and learning; to serve research and scholarship needs; to promote knowledge and understanding of the College's origins, aims, programs and goals; and to facilitate efficient College records management.

  • Media Production and Services, Mike Waugh, academic director
    The mission of the Media Production and Services program area is to produce, distribute and support instructional, informational and promotional video programming that serves the faculty, staff and students of JCCC, the citizens of Johnson County and, when appropriate, citizens of the state and nation with distance learning technologies.
