DVCam and DVD are the primary video formats used for departmental recordings and duplication activities. Other formats, such as VHS, S-VHS, Hi-8, BetaCam SP, etc, are often available upon special request.
Please Note: All recording and duplication services provided by the Media Production Services Department comply with federal copyright laws. The department is unable to provide recording and duplication for personal use.
Video copies for participants in college events, such as graduations, student performances or projects, etc., are available at a cost of $5.00 per copy (VHS) and $3.00 (DVD). Contact Paula Corte, ext. 3344, for details.
Recordings - Off-Air Recording Request Form
Programs broadcast via satellite or by commercial or public television stations may be recorded for instructional use and used in "face-to-face" instruction for a period of 30 days only. Off-air recordings to be used for periods greater than 30 days require written permission from the copyright holder. Recorded programs will be put on Library Reserve in the requestor's name.
Please Note: Many satellite broadcasts and programs broadcast on commercial or public television are available for purchase. Purchasing a program provides permission to use the program for the "life of the tape." Duplication rights may also be available for an additional charge.
Duplication - Video Duplication Order Form
Copies of video programs can be made providing one of the following criteria is met:
- the source program is copyrighted by JCCC
- written permission from the copyright holder accompanies the request
- the video program has no copyright
- the video copy is for archival purposes; the archival copy may be used ONLY when the original has been lost or damaged and ONLY until that original is replaced
