The Video Production department provides services for JCCC students, faculty, and staff and to citizens throughout the county.  Services include all aspects of video production, the 24 x 7 programming of three educational access cable channels, a campus-wide video network system, maintenance and repair of all JCCC video equipment, extensive recording and duplication of multiple video formats, satellite downlink feeds and recordings, and distance learning support with the production of telecourses and the provision of video resources for on-line courses.

Video Production staff are responsible for all media operations in the Nursing Department's Healthcare Simulation Center.

The department directly supports the Introduction to Broadcasting, Broadcast Performance, Advanced Broadcast Performance: TV, Basic Video Production, and Advanced Video Production courses.  Academic telecourses produced by the department include Basic Income Tax, Accounting I, and Economics I.  Other academic productions include the recording of adjunct faculty classroom presentations, student projects, faculty and guest lectures, and special events such as our Fashion Merchandising Program's Student Fashion Show.

Services in support of continuing education activities include specialized training workshops and conferences.  Most of the department's community interest programming  is broadcast on JCCC's educational access cable TV channels.  These programs include Dr. Callaway's State of the College addresses, Discover JCCC, Innovations in Teaching and Learning, The Polsky Series, Let's Talk Issues, JCCC Board of  Trustees meetings, JCCC men's and women's basketball games, most of the college's graduation ceremonies, and numerous Candidates' Forums during election years.  Other community service video productions include numerous cultural and entertainment events in the Carlsen Center and the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art.  Whenever possible, community interest programs broadcast on the college educational access channels are closed-captioned for hearing-impaired viewers.

Nearly all of the department's productions can be viewed as streaming video from the college's video web page.

A Director, an Administrative Assistant, two Producer/Directors, a Video Production Specialist, a Video Systems Engineer, a Video Systems Technician, a Video Systems Specialist, and a Media Production Specialist comprise the full-time staff in the VideoProduction department.  Numerous part-time staff members provide invaluable service as production assistants, cable operators, and technicians.
