Academic Achievement Center
The Academic Achievement Center (AAC) offers thirteen credit courses in a self-paced laboratory setting. These courses include study skills, reading, vocabulary, spelling, basic arithmetic, and algebra preparation. The center also offers Medical Terminology to meet the needs of students in health career fields.
AAC courses are designed to provide students with the foundation they need to be successful in college and to meet their academic goals. Students in the AAC range from adults who are returning to school for the first time in years to those who just want to get an "edge" in their other courses.
All AAC students are pre-tested to determine their skill levels and individualized instructional programs are designed to suit their needs. Instructional materials include computer software, textbooks, and videos. The AAC is staffed by instructors at all times, so students may attend class at their convenience.
For most courses, students are required to spend a minimum number of hours studying in the center, pass a minimum number of tests, complete a course notebook, and take a post-test.
