Information Technology
Information Technology connects people, departments and companies
for communication purposes. Local area networks give employees the ability
to share and retrieve information at the group level. Combining local area
networks with the Internet and telecommunications resources gives
employees intranet access to information throughout the company and
beyond.
Networking with information technology is the next exciting step in
the evolution of computing. In the last decade, the scope of computing has
progressed beyond just data processing to the application of integrated
communication of data, voice, video and imaging. IT focuses on using this
technology to solve problems and help individuals and organizations
realize their potential. The 21st century will have information technology
embedded in many products and services.
The world has now entered the Information Age, with success in business
largely determined by the effectiveness with which technology is used. The
focus of the information technology program at JCCC is to provide an
instructional and simulated workplace environment for students to prepare
for highly-sought employment opportunities.
The program offers an associate degree of applied science and three
vocational certificates in Microsoft Windows, Unix, and Cisco.
