Polysomnography / Sleep Technology
Polysomnography (PSG) is the physiologic recording of variables such as brain waves, eye movement, muscle tone, breathing and heart rhythm during sleep. Over 80 different types of sleep disorders have been identified, with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) symptoms occurring in 1 out of every 20 people.
Johnson County Community College offers an accredited Associate of Applied Science Degree in Polysomnography/Sleep Technology. Graduates of the program will enter the field as Polysomnographic Technicians and will be prepared to sit for the national exam administered by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) to gain the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential.
