Scholarship Collection

Robert J. Helmer Award for Excellence in Journalism Scholarship

Amount: Varies. Award covers tuition, books and program needs, with excess funds to the student.
Type: Merit
Eligibility: Applicant must be an accomplished individual who has and will continue to contribute to the viability of the Campus Ledger. Scholarship will be awarded to a student who has made significant progression and has met deadlines in a timely manner. Successful candidate will provide three examples of work, as well as a narrative expressing aspirations, goals and contributions to the Campus Ledger.
Deadline: First Wednesday following Spring Break.

Rose Family Scholarship

Amount: Varies.
Type: Merit
Eligibility: Applicants must be seeking a degree in journalism or media communications (including broadcasting, advertising, public relations, video production, news reporting or related media field). Student must enroll in and pass journalism class(es) with at least a "B" grade (minimum grade point average of 2.0 for semester). The JCCC scholarship application and the JCCC admission application are required. Details regarding applying for the Rose Family Scholarship are available either in the Journalism and Media Communications Department brochure or on the department's web site at www.jccc.net/home/depts/journalism.
Deadline: November 15 for a spring semester scholarship and April 15 for a fall semester scholarship.
