Foundation Awards | Endowments

The JCCC Foundation provided $631,861 that was awarded to 656 students for tuition, books and program needs.

Some Enchanted Evening

Stewart and Esther Stein served as chairs for Some Enchanted Evening 2008 that honored Fred Logan, Jr. as Johnson Countian of the Year.

The corporate sponsorship committee, chaired by Brad Bergman, brought in 43 Sponsors, raising $300,000 to support the Foundation Scholarship Program.

Some Enchanted Evening 2009 is being chaired by Brad and Libby Bergman and Cal Kleinmann is serving as chair of the corporate sponsorship committee.

Terry and Peggy Dunn will be honored as Johnson Countians of the Year at the November 14th black-tie gala.

Members of the Nerman Museum

Since October 2008, Members of the Nerman Museum have contributed over $39,000 to support exhibitions and visual arts education programming in the museum.

During 2008, the museum welcomed over 80,000 visitors, including 3,000 school children.

On Saturday, October 24, 2009, the museum will host Beyond Bounds ∙ GLOW, its biennial fundraiser. The event will feature original works of art in the color ruby Red, for the college’s 40th anniversary.

Beyond Bounds will be chaired by Gloria and Dick Anderson and Candy and Fred Merrill, Jr.

Dollars for Scholars Auction

The JCCC Dollars for Scholars Auction 2009 earned over $51,000 in net profits.

This year Tom and Mary Martha Carrico served as honorary chairs and with the help of over 200 volunteers including students, friends, alumni, faculty and staff helped raise funds for 31 scholarships and programming funds.

Capitol Federal and Commerce Bank were major sponsors of the event that over 425 people attended at the Ritz Charles in Overland Park. JCCC Dollars for Scholars 2010 will be held on April 23, 2010.

Faculty and staff members

In fiscal year 08-09, more than 250 faculty and staff members contributed $48,494 for programs and scholarship funds through the Employee Giving Program.

Additionally, JCCC faculty and staff purchased tickets and items at the JCCC Dollars for Scholars auction and contributed to a wide variety of programs and scholarships in many ways, including a holiday initiative called “The Giving Tree.”

This initiative gave employees a unique way to recognize their peers and colleagues with a donation to the Foundation and an ornament on the holiday tree in the lobby of the Carlsen Center.

Planned Giving Committee

John C. Davis chairs the Planned Giving Committee and the group continues its collaboration with the Johnson County Bar Association to present Ethics for Good, coming up this year on Friday, June 26, 2009.

Polsky Practical Personal Enrichment Series

Norman and Elaine Polsky and the Polsky Family Supporting Foundation, through their endowment, continue to support the Polsky Practical Personal Enrichment Series, which presents seven topical forums a year.

It is in its fifth successful year in 2009 and the next series is June 17 featuring Adam Bold.

President’s Scholarship Campaign

March 27 marked the annual State of the College event and the kickoff of the President’s Scholarship Campaign.

The President’s Scholarship was created in 2008 to recognize outstanding academic achievement by Johnson County high school graduates.

In its first year, awards totaling over $38,000 were given to 20 students. Since July 1, 2008, we have received $13,653 to fund President’s Scholarships, with an additional $67,700 contributed from event revenues.

The campaign will continue through the summer, with the final total to be announced at the JCCC Foundation annual dinner in October 2009.

Endowment and total assets

To date, the Foundation’s endowment is $11,322,220 and total assets are $19,562,220.
