Also working with the screening committee will be Mark Ferguson, Lathrop& Gage, college counsel, and Wayne Brown, JCCC chief information officer, who will be the college’s liaison between the screening committee, the search firm and JCCC’s office of Human Resources.

The screening committee will hold a public forum from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 25 in Polsky Theatre. The public may meet with the screening committee at that time to discuss the search process and the qualities that should be included in the presidential profile.

Afterward, the committee will meet with the consultant, Jeff Hockaday, Hockaday-Hunter & Associates, Sanford, N.C., to discuss roles, responsibilities and timelines.

The board of trustees will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, in the Hugh W. Speer board room, 137 GEB, to discuss the presidential profile, including information gathered from the public forum and the screening committee members. The approved profile will then be posted.

Candidates will be asked to send their resumes to Hockaday, who will forward 25 of them to the committee within approximately 40 days. The screening committee will review the resumes and come up with a list of approximately 12 candidates. Those 12 candidates will be asked to provide videotapes of themselves answering several questions. Based on the resumes and the tapes, the committee will then reduce the pool to eight candidates, whose names will be forwarded to the board for consideration.

The board is then likely to invite the candidates to visit the campus and community for interviews and forums with constituencies and may even visit the candidates’ campuses.

The process will take at least through the end of the year.
