JCCC accelerates entrepreneurship certificate
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — As more displaced workers, soon-to-be retirees, retirees and better-mousetrap-idea people become interested in starting their own businesses, Johnson County Community College is offering an accelerated business plan certificate.
JCCC’s entrepreneurship program will offer classes every Friday, allowing students to complete the 7-credit-hour business plan certificate in one semester. Beginning in the 2010 spring semester, students can enroll in the three classes required for the certificate — Introduction to Entrepreneurship (2 credit hours), Opportunity Analysis (2 credit hours) and FastTrac Business Plan (3 credit hours) — from Feb. 5 to April 23. Previously, these courses were offered in consecutive semesters, an option that is still available.
The business plan certificate program focuses on entrepreneurship as a career choice, evaluating an idea for a business and writing a business plan to start and/or grow a business.
One may register as either a credit or noncredit student. Students must register for all three courses when enrolling.
Cost is $69 per credit hour ($483 total) for Johnson County residents, $84 per credit hour ($588) for Kansas residents from outside the county and $159 per credit hour ($1,113) for out-of-state residents.
For more information about the business plan certificate program, contact Donna Duffey, chair, entrepreneurship program, 913-469-8500, ext. 3475, or dduffey@jccc.edu.
