JCCC’s summer enrollment soars

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — A total of 10,029 students are enrolled in summer classes at Johnson County Community College, up 9.7 percent from the 9,141 enrolled last summer. This is the highest summer enrollment the college has ever recorded.

The number of credit hours in which students are enrolled is 43,911, a 10.6 percent increase from last summer’s total of 39,710, also a record. Summer classes at JCCC began June 1.

“Students know the quality of our classes,” said Terry A. Calaway, JCCC president. “Picking up a few extra hours in the summer allows them to keep up their grades and perhaps graduate just a little bit earlier.”
