Second Annual Stroke Forum: From Victim to Victor

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — The Second Annual Stroke Forum: From Victim to Victor is scheduled from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, in the Capitol Federal Conference Center of the Regnier Center, Johnson County Community College.

This forum is co-sponsored by the American Stroke Foundation and the JCCC Center for Business and Technology’s Health and Human Services.

Regina Walsh, CCRN, is a nurse, artist and stroke survivor. Walsh will speak to her personal experience with recovering from a stroke and her journey back to wellness and to working with others surviving stroke.

Brenda Hanna-Pladdy, PhD;  nurses Penny Shaffer and Susan Stark; and occupational therapist Kathy Park will focus on the recent research in stroke, treatment and rehabilitation and discuss the acute and long-term treatments now available for stroke survivors.

Cost is $90, with registration available at  913-469-2323 (CRN 90782). The forum is targeted for health care workers, stroke patients and their families. CEUs are available for health care professionals.  Call 913-469-3140 for more information.
