JCCC hosts biotechnology parent education workshops

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Parents with children interested in a career in the biosciences are invited to one of two free workshops being hosted by Johnson County Community College: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, or 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, both in the Capitol Federal Conference Center of the Regnier Center.

The workshops will include presentations by JCCC faculty and a representative from a local biotechnology company on career options and career pathways in the biosciences. The workshops will also provide the opportunity for parents and their children to pose questions about the biosciences and to share their views on how JCCC can best convey to the public the career and educational opportunities available in this high-growth and high-wage industry. Parents are encouraged to bring their children, grades 8 through 12.

To register, call 913-469-2323 and reference course # 91848  for the Oct. 15 class and course # 91849 for the Oct. 17 class. For more information, contact Betty DiCostanzo at bdicosta@jccc.edu.

These workshops are made possible through a OneKC WIRED grant.
