Goldenberg Duo

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Susan Goldenberg, violin, and William Goldenberg, piano, perform as the Goldenberg Duo at noon Monday, March 16, in the Recital Hall of the Carlsen Center, Johnson County Community College, as part of the free Ruel Joyce Recital Series featuring Kansas City classical artists.

The brother-and-sister duo has performed together 29 years. They captured audiences at the Amalfi Coast Music Festival in Italy,  American Cathedral in Paris and St. Peter’s Church in St. Albans, England. They traveled to China in 2004 for concerts and master classes in Beijing and Shanghai. The duo performed in Scandinavia in 2005, British Columbia in 2006,  Australia and New Zealand in 2007 and Hawaii in 2008. They will tour and perform in Alaska in 2009.

Susan Goldenberg has played in the first-violin section of the National Symphony of Costa Rica, Charlotte (N.C.) Symphony and, for 29 years, the Kansas City Symphony. She earned a bachelor of music degree from Indiana University and a master of music degree with a fellowship from Yale University.

William Goldenberg has performed more than 1,000 concerts throughout the world as a soloist and chamber musician. A versatile pianist, he has performed chamber music with many prominent artists, including the Vermeer Quartet, London Symphony Concertmaster Igor Gruppman, Boston Symphony principal flutist Doriot Dwyer and Berlin Deutsche Opera soprano Amanda Halgrimson. His recordings include sonatas with violinist Pierre Menard, two CDs of composer Oscar Haugland’s Door County Suite and Petite Suite for My Grandchildren, contemporary chamber music (Webern, Berg, Ran) with soprano and clarinet, and duos with Chinese violinist Wei Mei-Mei, recorded in Shanghai.

William Goldenberg earned a master of music degree from Juilliard and doctorate from Indiana University.
