OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — The Polsky Practical Personal Enrichment Series will present Health Care 2009 from 7:30-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, in Polsky Theatre of the Carlsen Center, Johnson County Community College. Myra Christopher, president, Center for Practical Bioethics; Elaine Mcintosh, president, Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care; and David Wilson, president, AARP Kansas, will be the evening’s speakers.

The seminar is free, but seating is limited. Reserve tickets by calling the JCCC box office, 913-469-4445. Reserved covered parking is available. Refreshments and networking are offered one-half hour before and after the program.

This seminar will cover recent updates regarding health care — managing health care expenses in a difficult economy, the growing need for health care reform, health care reform in the Obama administration and the stimulus package’s impact on health care — as well as ongoing ethics about how to make the “right” decision at the end of life, the importance of advance care planning, options for coping with life-threatening diseases and more.

This series is underwritten by the Norman & Elaine Polsky Family Supporting Foundation within the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation in partnership with JCCC and includes topics not now being offered elsewhere.

Polsky Series seminars can be viewed at http://video.jccc.edu anytime or SureWest or Time-Warner Channel 17, Comcast Channel 22 (Johnson County only) from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday or 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday.
