OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — The Polsky Practical Personal Enrichment Series will present Back to Basics: Rebuilding Your Personal Wealth with Adam Bold from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, in the Polsky Theatre of the Carlsen Center, Johnson County Community College.

The seminar is free, but seating is limited. Reserve tickets by calling the JCCC box office, 913-469-4445. Reserved covered parking is available. Refreshments and networking are offered one-half hour before and after the program.

Bold will cover topics including:

  • Is this the time to sell or a time to buy?
  • Is the market at its lowest?
  • Some financial advisers are predicting we will be on the road to recovery by the end of the year, others say it will take at least four years. Who is correct?
  • Mutual funds investment strategies
  • Five things wrong with financial services

Bold is founder of The Mutual Fund Store, an independent, fee-based, investment advisory and asset management firm headquartered in Overland Park with offices coast-to-coast. He founded TMFS after a number of years working as a stock broker with the belief individuals would be better served receiving investment advice and asset management from an independent, unbiased adviser instead of a commission-based broker.

More than a decade after founding TMFS, Bold’s goal of helping people plan for their financial futures has exploded into a nationally-branded company with 69 locations in 59 cities and 31 states and plans for continued expansion in existing and new markets throughout the United States.

In addition to serving as chief investment officer of The Mutual Fund Research Center, the research arm for all TMFS stores, Bold is founder and CEO of Smart401k, an Overland Park company which offers advice to individuals and employers for managing assets in employer-sponsored retirement plans.

Bold wrote The Bold Truth About Investing: Ten Commandments for Building Personal Wealth (April 2009), following the success for his first book The Bold Truth About Mutual Funds (2005). His investment expertise and ability to communicate in easy-to-understand terms also make him a frequent guest on national TV financial shows and local radio and TV.

For more than 11 years, Bold has also been host to The Mutual Fund Show, America’s only radio show devoted exclusively to mutual fund investments. It’s heard live Saturdays in 61 major markets across the country. In the Kansas City area, The Mutual Fund Show is heard at 10 a.m. each Saturday on 980 AM, KMBZ Radio.

This series is underwritten by the Norman & Elaine Polsky Family Supporting Foundation within the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation in partnership with JCCC and includes topics not now being offered elsewhere.

Previous Polsky Series seminars can be viewed at http://video.jccc.edu anytime or SureWest or Time-Warner Channel 17, Comcast Channel 22 (Johnson County only) from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday or 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday.
