CakeLove founder speaks at JCCC

Warren Brown
Warren Brown

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – You gotta love it: Warren Brown, a lawyer, turned his passion for cakes into an industry. Brown, founder and owner of CakeLove and Love Café and former host of Sugar Rush on the Food Network, will speak from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, in the Capitol Federal Conference Center of the Regnier Center, Johnson County Community College. His presentation is free and open to the public.

Sponsored by the JCCC’s Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization and Campus Activities, Brown will share the highs and lows of starting his own business.

In 2000, Brown left his career as a lawyer litigating health care fraud on behalf of the federal government to pursue a dream of starting a business. Sensing that people wanted better cake, he founded CakeLove and opened for business in 2002.

With a lot of hard work and positive word-of-mouth advertising, Brown has grown his business from a moonlighting project into seven thriving bakeries. He develops new recipes and products that are sold through his bakery and cafe and posted online in podcasts or included in his CakeLove cookbook. He is recognized for his entreprenuerial spirit by the media including The Oprah Winfrey Show, Today Show, People Magazine, Black Enterprise, Inc. and many others.
